چکیده

(1) Background: Recently, Escherichia coli-derived recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2 (E. rhBMP-2) has been increasingly applied to different types of spinal surgeries and reported achieve successful fusion. This pilot study aimed evaluate the clinical efficacy safety rhBMP-2 in patients undergoing posterior instrumented fusions for unstable fractures. (2) Methods: included ten consecutive surgery using E. with more than one year follow-up. Radiologic outcomes were compared, including average fracture healing period, local kyphosis correction, between preoperative last (3) Results: The time radiographic union was 99.9 ± 45.4 (62–192) days, an use 5.2 3.9 months anabolic agents. parameters such as anterior vertebral height wedge angle significantly corrected postoperatively at Clinical other leg pain improved after surgery. In addition, four neurologic deficits showed status. (4) Conclusions: Combined agents, applying fractured body could be effective surgical treatment Further trials are needed validate this result.

Acute Intravenous Injection Toxicity Study of Escherichia coli-Derived Recombinant Human Bone Morphogenetic Protein-2 in Rat

STUDY DESIGN Prospective in vivo toxicity study. PURPOSE To evaluate the conducted acute toxicity study of Escherichia coli (E. coli)-derived recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2 (rhBMP-2) with 6-weeks old Sprague-Dawley rats. OVERVIEW OF LITERATURE rhBMP-2 has well-known osteoinductivity and it is used as a bone graft substitute. E. coli-derived rhBMP-2 can be mass-produced with ...

RECOMBINANT HUMAN BONE MORPHOGENIC PROTEIN-2 (rhBMP-2) USE IN MAXILLOFACIAL SURGERY

Surgeons can now control osteogenesis through local application of BMP-2. BMP’s are osteoinductive proteins that are located in bone matrix and are responsible for embryonic skeletal formation and bone healing. Marshal Urist first coined the term “bone morphogenic protein” over 40 years ago. Recombinant human BMP-2 is an osteoinductive growth factor that has the potential to make autogenous bon...

Bone Morphogenic Protein Use in Spinal Surgery.

Bone morphogenic protein (BMP) provides excellent enhancement of fusion in many spinal surgeries. BMP should be a cautionary tale about the use of industry-sponsored research, perceived conflicts of interest, and holding the field of spinal surgery to the highest academic scrutiny and ethical standards. In the case of BMP, not having a transparent base of literature as it was approved led to de...

Escherichia coli-derived recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2 combined with bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stromal cells improves bone regeneration in canine segmental ulnar defects

BACKGROUND Large bone defects in canines usually require assistance to achieve healing. Implantation of osteoinductive factors can promote bone healing, while transplantation of osteoprogenitor cells can enhance bone regeneration. We hypothesized that implantation of an osteoinductive factor, recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2 (rhBMP-2), combined with osteoprogenitor cells, bone mar...
